BOOST FOR CITY’S CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN

The Bulawayo City council clean up campaign that aims to restore the country’s second largest city to its past glory of being one of the cleanest settlements on the African Continent has been given a boost after some local companies donated equipment worth thousands of dollars towards this programme.

The BCC received five tipper trucks, 1186 bin liners, five refuse bins, a public address system, a mobile awareness gazebo front end loader, two skip bins, front end loader, 100 gloves, 400 litres of diesel and 200 latex gloves.

This consignment of equipment will be used to compliment what the City Fathers were already using in this campaign that so far is targeting to clean at least 43 hotspots.

Some of the hotspots are corner Lobengula street and 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue corner George Silundika, 4th Avenue between Fife street and George Silundika street and 5th avenue between Robert Mugabe Way and Josiah Tongogara street.

“The City of Bulawayo in partnership with the office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Environmental Management Agency would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your assistance and partnership during the Clean-up Campaign held on Wednesday, 18 January 2023 to Friday, 20 January 2023. The donations rendered were of great assistance in ensuring the success of the campaign”, said Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Mguni in a statement.

The contributions were made by Asphalt products, Environmental Management Agency, Hawk-flight construction, Mac Motors trading as Genesis Power, Proton, Skip IT, United Refineries, Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Rajeshkumar Indukant Modi and Zimbabwe Power Company.
