TMPCZ TO PUNISH UNREGISTERED SELLERS OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINES

The Traditional Medical Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe has warned illegal abiding practitioners of traditional medicines not to practice outside the law.

The department has given up to the end of March for all traditional healers, faith healers including prophets and apostles , bishops, traditional birth attendants and spirit mediums, churches, local and foreign traditional medical association herbalist, herbal gardens, traditional wholesalers/shop, distributors/manufacturers of traditional medicines, traditional surgeries/clinics, training institutions amongst others.

“The council kindly informs practitioners to register with the TMPCZ of the Traditional Medical Practitioners Act Chapter 27:14 .”, said the TMPCZ through a statement.

“Chapter 27:14 part VI section 31 stipulates that any one practicing traditional healing or faith healing outside the law is liable to a fine not exceeding (US$400-00) or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two tears of to both such fine and such imprisonment.”

“We expect that, by the end of March 2023 all illegal practitioners will have registered and received practicing licenses”, reads the TMPCZ statement.

Traditional Medical Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe is a public entity under the preview of Ministry of Health and Child Care.
