The Bulawayo City council has in recent weeks been revamping roads across the City. These activities are meant to address the scourge of potholes brought about by heavy rains.
So far some of the targeted areas that were inflicted by potholes are Njube, Bulawayo CBD, Cowdray Park road near Masiyephambili road and Makokoba.
Some residents have seen this as a step in the right direction which may restore Bulawayo to it’s former glory.
“We are happy with what we are seeing but the local authorities should speed up these roadworks because at least seventy percent of Bulawayo tarmac roads are in a bad shape. Those potholes cause traffic accidents”, a resident named Brian Zata said.
“This is very good because cars were no longer moving well. It may delay us now but the outcomes will be of great victory to us.”, said Obert Nepfumbira.
The residents and drivers are however pleading with the BCC to speed up everything in order to avoid accidents taking place at that place.
“If they take too long, many accidents will take place during the night, it will helps a lot of everything be done fast. If drivers only use one lane, accidents occur and even congestion. What they are doing is very good but they take too long which is very bad”, said another resident.
Another resident Cosum Sibindi however dismissed the current exercise saying the Council carries these works every year but is never thorough.
“They have much better road ,cars are now moving hard. One way is now causing accidents. The problem is they start something without enough resources to do everything. Wait and see the tar they will apply, it will wear off quickly. “, he said.-
